The Mars curiosity rover is a nuclear powered golf cart loaded with scientific gear currently exploring the surface of Mars. It was launched from Cape Canaveral on November 26, 2011 and it touched down on the surface of Mars August 8, 2012.
In the 3 years and 8 months since it landed, “Curiosity” the Mars Science Laboratory has roved over 7.91 miles (12.74 Km) across the surface of Mars, observing atmospheric conditions and conducting contact science along the way.
