The authors were instructors at the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School; the book was designed to be used in the officers’ advanced course. Treatment of the subject is both chronological and analytical. The work attempts to evaluate the effectiveness of U.S. military intelligence from the American Revolution up to Vietnam, after a brief look at the history of military intelligence in general.
